HOW MOBILE COMPANIES ARE PLANING TO USE WIMAX

The big handset makers are putting their weight behind WIMAX super-fast mobile broadband technology (or 4G) with Nokia, Motorola and Qisda (formerly BenQ), all launching WIMAX devices next year.

According to Digi Times in Taiwan, they plan to launch WIMAX CPE (Customer Premise Equipment) products next year – that’ll be mobile devices to you and me.

Motorola’s CDMA/WIMAX dual-mode handset will appear early next year, just as Nokia launches a WIMAX-compatible Internet tablet. Meanwhile, Qisda will release its first EDGE/WIMAX phone by the end of 2008, with sources hinting it will be a modified BenQ E72 smartphone (Pictured).
